Overview

The goal of this simulation is to show and to study effects of different actions in a pandemic crisis, when a virus jumps over from human to human, such as COVID-19. Actions include social distancing and exit lock allowing us to study their effect on infection and mortality rate.

Software

The simulation has been created by Thomas Peschel, a close collaborator working at the University Leipzig. The source code is publicly available in GitHub.

A short description in German and a Fullscreen Shiny App version can be found here: https://tpeschel.github.io/Pandemia/.

The following window shows the application (based R Shiny).

Application

We already provided this application to Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk to show how different actions like social distancing and exit lock result in less deaths inside and outside the medical care system.
